Founded in West Salem. Built Across Northeast Ohio.
More Than 40 Years of Ohio Energy, Landowner Trust, and Family Commitment
Cutter Oil was founded in 1982 by Charles and Elizabeth Cutter with a simple operating belief: do the work honestly, treat landowners with respect, and build something that lasts.
The Beginning
Cutter Oil began as a family operation in West Salem, Ohio. Charles and Elizabeth Cutter built the company through hard work, long days in the field, and relationships with landowners who trusted the family to operate responsibly on their ground.
That trust became the foundation of the business. Every well, every lease, and every job site carried the same expectation: do it right, communicate clearly, and leave the land respected.
Growth Across Northeast Ohio
Over the decades, Cutter Oil expanded its work across Wayne, Cuyahoga, Summit, and Lake counties. The company has drilled 150+ wells and built a reputation as a local operator that understands both the technical side of energy production and the personal side of landowner relationships.
Cutter Oil's history is tied to Ohio's rural communities — farms, schools, small businesses, churches, township roads, and families who know that energy development is local before it is anything else.
Second-Generation Leadership
Today, Cutter Oil is led and supported by the next generation of the Cutter family. The company continues to operate with the same values that shaped the business from the beginning: integrity, accountability, field discipline, and respect for the land.
As the energy industry changes, Cutter Oil is focused on modernizing its operations, preserving its legacy assets, and preparing for the next chapter of Ohio energy infrastructure.
A Record of Ohio Energy Leadership
Decades of Growth, Backed by the Record
At key moments in its history, Cutter Oil became one of Ohio's significant independent energy producers. Those years of growth reflect the company's ability to combine local relationships, field execution, and technical discipline.
Still Family-Led. Still Ohio-Focused.
For more than four decades, Cutter Oil has worked where we live. That is why our standards are personal. Our name is on the company, and our reputation is built in the same communities we serve.
